Who is a Lobbyist?

"Lobbyist" means a person who is retained, with or without compensation, for the purpose of lobbying; or a person who is employed by another person or entity, on a full-time or part-time basis, principally to lobby on behalf of that other person or entity who seeks any action, decision, recommendation of the elected officials, city advisory board or committee members, or city staff during the time of the entire decision making process. (Please see the entire ordinance for exceptions.)

A LOBBYIST REGISTATRION FEE OF $150 IS DUE TO COMPLETE ANNUAL REGISTRATION. THIS FEE IS DUE EACH YEAR TO RENEW REGISTRATION. ONE FEE PER LOBBYIST, AND PER PRINCIPAL OR CLIENT

TERMS OF USE AGREEMENT

I, the undersigned, do hereby swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information furnished above is true and complete to the best of my knowledge.

I am the person who has signed up for, and is identified by, my password and user ID as the lobbyist.
I understand that I may not share my password or user ID with any other person, because my password and user ID are the equivalent of my signature.
I understand that I must register as a lobbyist in Deerfield Beach for each Employer/Client whom I am representing within 10 days of beginning my lobbying activities.
I am authorized by each Employer/Client by whom I am employed to legally certify and make filings required by the Broward County Ethics Law.
I understand that I will be personally and legally liable for the veracity, accuracy, and timeliness of all information submitted under my password and user ID, including any information filed without my consent or knowledge, as a result of any failure by me to safeguard and keep confidential my password and user ID.
I accept all applicable legal and financial liabilities, including for perjury, if any submitted information is not true, complete, or timely filed.
I understand that if I authorize anyone else to perform data entry tasks for required filings on my behalf, it will still be my responsibility to review, file, and sign these entries certifying the completeness and accuracy of such filings.
I understand that I must submit a lobbyist registration fee of $150 within ten (10) days after filing this registration statement to the attention of the City Clerk, City of Deerfield Beach, 150 NE 2nd Avenue Deerfield Beach, FL 33441 and cannot lobby City officials until payment is received.
I understand that payment applies to the period of July 1 through June 30 of the year and that a registered lobbyist shall submit to the city clerk' s office a signed statement under oath, listing all lobbying expendItures related to the City of Deerfield Beach lobbying activities incurred in the past twelve 12) months and the sources of funds for such expenditures. The statement of expenditures, shall be filed no later than July 15 of each year.
I do solemnly swear that all of the foregoing facts are true and correct and that I have read or am familiar with the provisions contained in Broward County Section 1-262 Code of Ordinances and all reporting requirements.
